The SINU working group “Study and Promotion of the Mediterranean Diet” was established in 2024 and approved by the Board of Directors in the meeting of 05/06/2024.
The group has the following main objectives:
- Enhancing the health benefits of the Mediterranean diet and its components, with particular focus on extra virgin olive oil.
- Analysing trends in adherence to the Mediterranean Diet within the general Italian population, including children/adolescents, adults, and elderly people, across different regional contexts.
- Promoting the Mediterranean diet through initiatives aimed at the general population.
The work plan is structured in several phases, including conducting literature reviews to develop summary documents, producing informational materials, and organizing meetings with the general public to raise awareness and encourage the adoption of the Mediterranean Diet.
