About Us
Mission
The Italian Society of Human Nutrition (SINU) is a non-profit scientific society that brings together scholars and experts in nutrition in its different chemical, molecular, genetic, biochemical, physiological, psychological, cognitive-behavioral, clinical, technological, educational, economic, political and social aspects. The SINU is part of national and international Federations of Scientific Societies and collaborates with research bodies, public and private institutions, and other scientific societies. The SINU aims to address nutritional issues in a multidisciplinary way contributing to the solution of problems in this area through various activities. It is recognized in the scientific areas of nutrition biochemistry, food and nutrition science, human nutrition and nutrition, dietetics and applied nutrition.
It has among its main interests:
- genetic and molecular bases of human nutrition
- metabolism and energy and nutrient requirements
- functional aspects of foods and their components
- quality and nutritional safety
- state of nutrition and nutritional surveillance
- nutrition at different ages of life, during pregnancy and breastfeeding
- sports nutrition
- interaction between physical activity and nutritional status
- catering, school and hospital
- promotion of healthy eating and nutrition education
- communication and dissemination in the nutritional field
- etiopathogenesis and prevention of diseases of nutritional origin
- application principles of diet therapy
- training and verification of the professionalism of operators in the health system, food industry and catering
The SINU carries out its activities through interaction with institutions, scientific societies and mass media, and is particularly committed to the promotion of scientific research, the formulation of reference documents, the organization of events at international, national and local level, and information and education in the food and nutritional field.
